A Luxury Holiday destination presenting The Farmhouse, The Barn and The Studio

Winding country lanes bisect fields of corn and grazing cattle which belies it’s central proximity to Dorset’s ‘Jurassic Coast’. Green fields give way to rugged coastline, fantastic views and the opportunity to explore is never far away.

The farm is a mere 10 minutes drive from the beach at Charmouth and 6 miles from the traditional seaside town of Lyme Regis. Lower Park Farm provides the ideal opportunity to be as adventurous as you wish. Families can indulge in walking, fossil hunting, building sandcastles on the beach, cycling or simply relaxing in a nearby country pub. The rural isolation guarantees a tranquil stay, the only disturbance being the rustle of the trees or the submissive sheep in adjacent fields. Children can enjoy complete freedom to roam and explore, the restriction of space removed to enable them to express themselves and play to their heart’s content.

Lower Park Farm is an original Dorset farmhouse dating back to the early 1800s. Renovated in 2010 by the new owners to provide a charming blend of high quality contemporary decor mixed with traditional features such as travertine stone flooring and a working Aga cooker. Part of the charm of this property is that you have more than just the farmhouse, there are outbuildings and in particular an old dairy fitted out with sofas, tables etc. that you can enjoy the use of, along with a central courtyard area.

Lower Park Farmhouse self catering holiday accommodation is set back, down a long private driveway providing seclusion and a feeling of peacefulness. Adjacent to the property, and surrounded by working fields, are old farm buildings facing a central courtyard. It is no longer a full working farm, however you will see sheep and cows grazing in nearby fields throughout your stay.

The Lumsden Family have renovated this property as if they were going to live in it, therefore you will find that they have spared no expense with the chosen interior design including fittings, appliances and soft furnishings. All the bedrooms, the hallway and the lounge are fitted with silk curtains. All the room’s ceilings have chandeliers or fitted lights. The whole of the downstairs floor has been fitted with un-honed travertine/limestone tiles. The stairs have been fitted with Victorian stair bars across each tread and to add character a stylish hand rail made by the local sawmill in Eype has been installed. Beams used throughout the house were reclaimed from the farm, hence the variety and style of wood used. The recycling of furniture and wood was a key feature of the renovations of this house. All the doors in the property are originals, however, a small number of doors have been re-carpentered to realign with the refurbishment. All of the original cast iron door handles have been ‘brushed-up’ and re-installed.

No expense was spared and no corners cut when we renovated this lovely old farmhouse. We believe that all of our efforts to create a superb self-catering holiday cottage have succeeded and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed.
